bittersweet
FINALLY FINISHED WITH FINALS.
cependant.
I still have delf next week. ( ew. but not important academically).
I had a total of 9 exams, 12 hours long, during 4 days. not enough time.
but after those exams I began the painful process of packing. :( it’s super exciting to be going home, but its so very bittersweet.
Well, this was short, but I need to shower and get to bed early. I’m going adventuring with my friend Aaron to Le Mans tomorrow and Rouen saturday! YAY no school!

The One With One Month Left
Yesterday marked my last month in France. I remember when it was one month till I came to France. Crazy how fast it went by. If someone had told me a year ago that I would have stayed for 9 months in france, and taught english for five; I probably would have laughed..I never imagined this. It has been the most amazing, wonderful experience.
On another note, today is beautiful out. (the warmth was great for a run, and has me motivated to work out)! After studying for a few hours this morning, we went and got Indian for lunch, and then to this frozen food store. (frozen fruit! healthy snack time!). And Aaron and I are going to see “Dark Shadows” tonight for a study break.
Well back to studying! must do well! :)

Le Dernier Jour
[warning: this blog update contains franglais, so google translate away if you can’t figure it out]
Thursday officially marked my LAST DAY of classes. (Monday is rattrapage, and doesn’t count..makeups). But it’s incredibly bittersweet, I cannot wait to be home, but I am seriously going to be homesick for France and the friends I’ve made here.
but enough depressing news.
I have 11 finals, starting the 14th i have 9 to take within 4 days, and after I have 2 more, the DELF. Mais, c’est pas grave, it’s easy and doesn’t count for a grade.
And since this was the last week of classes, here are pictures with my professors!! (3 are missing, one I despise [no photo], one we didn’t ask, and one we haven’t asked yet). donc.

This is Anne Prunet. I’ve had her for two semesters, and I had orientation with her last fall. I as SUPER scared of her because she parlers trop vite. I had her for Civilisation this semester, and it was definitely one of my favorite courses.

This would be Muriel Geslot. Quite possibly the best professor I’ve had here. She is incredibly funny, and helpful. I also had the opportunity to have her for two semesters. (even though I didn’t pass her class last semester..opps). I had her for Simulation Globale (the class with my personna).

This would be Levittoux. I also had her for two semesters, and last semester I was not a fan..and I don’t think she liked me much either. Bon. But this semester, she is seriously one of my favorite professors, and I’ve enjoyed having her twice. I had her for Orale.

This would be Hubert. I had her for writing, she is the stereotype of french women; feminist, no bra, that sort of thing. But I enjoyed her class none-the-less.
Aussi, the others in the pictures are the Americans in the class!
Today, is the french elections. I went with Josette and saw how the French vote. C’est bizzare. You show i.d, and you’re registration, then you pick up 2 sheets of paper, one with each candidates name, then you go in to the booth and you do one of three things; 1 vote Sarkozy, 2 vote Hollande or 3 vote blanc. Which means you put no paper in, it’s similar to voting third party. You dislike both candidates but still want to vote and to have it not go towards them. Then you drop your vote off in a big, clear, locked plastic box. It was cool to see.
Then I had lunch with Josette and her friend Françoise; which was fine, and normal, they had guinnea hen for lunch (pas moi), and I hleped make a ruhbarbed tarte. Afterwards Françoise is asking why I’m veggie, and I tell her. Then she proceeds to take this random chunk of meat off the plate of where Josette had dismembered the bird. And she says this, “c’est le trou du cul” (something like that). I looked at her puzzled, because I didn’t catch the last word, and then she goes “I don’t know the word in english, oh wait, it’s the asshole’, and I look at her strangely. And she goes, c’est pas grave, it’s been cleaned. OMG. THENNN after she says she can’t eat chicken becuase she saw them in a chicken farm once and it ruined it, UHM HELLO you just ate the BUTT of a guinnea, anything you say about not eating chicken from here on out is nul and void. It was amusing, I did not know people ate it. Apparently it was yummy.
I will just have to take her word.

Spring Break 2012
So for break, or Les Vacances, we got 2 full weeks of vacation. During that time, Jose was here for ten days. On the 7th I went to Paris and picked him up and brought him back to Caen for a few days. He was able to meet some of my friends here, and see the city, and see Bayeux. On the 11th we went to Paris for three days, and the 14th we left for Milan. We spent 3 days in Milan, and returned the night of the 16th (tiny hiccup with air plans..) and had the 17th as one last day in Paris. Now for a short recap of what we saw:
Bayeux (Bayeux Cathedrale and the tapestry from the 1100’s)
Caen (Caen, Abbae aux Dames/Hommes, and we went to easter mass in St. Pierre, went to market and explored the castle a bit).
Paris (Montmartre [Sacre Coeur], Notre Dame, Saint Chapelle, Tour d’Eiffel, Arc de Triumph[climbed to the top of both], Shakespeare & Co., Polidor [noms restaurant from 1845 in the Midnight in Paris film], Versailles, and Lovers Lock Bridge [we put a lock there!].
Milan (Milan Cathedral [or Duomo Cathedral, its massive, 5 largest in the world, started in 1386-1965], went to church there, San Babila [1090], San Ambrosia [380ish], Costello Ducal [ironically the same name as the castle in Caen, ducal], and we just wandered the ciyt, ate some gellato).
It was an amazing spring break, it was wonderful to be able to explore France and Italy with Jose. I’m so lucky to have gotten to! Now for some photos!

P.S I couldn’t escape the weather of Normandy, it rained everyday, some days all day, and others just a little bit, nonetheless, I had an amazing break.
